Fish species caught in the Vermilion River are: Emerald Shiner and Longnose Dace are the most common; Other species are: Fathead Minnow, Lake Chub, Pearl Dace, Brook Stickelback, Trout-Perch, White Sucker.  Vermilion River at Lea Park is an ideal fish habitat with diverse features including riffles, runs, pools, snags, macrophytes and streamside vegetation providing shade.

Fort George Buckingham House Provincial Historic Site
The location of two competing fur trade posts from the 1790’s. Located just outside Elk Point, this historic site offers visitors a glimpse into the early fur trade. The Interpretive Centre gives you glimpse into the dreams of Louis, the voyageur. Listen to William Tomison the chief factor of Buckingham House as he reflects and writes in his journal. Meet the Country Wife, Nestichio and learn about the important role she played in linking the two cultures. Stroll down the interpretive path to the archaeological site of the two forts and stand where history happened.
