Our Services

Utilities

Water and Wastewater services are provided by the Village of Marwayne. Now that our community is connected to the Alberta Central East Water Corporation (ACE) line, the annual water rates are subject to fluctuation.

Utility charges are invoiced monthly. A penalty of 5% applies to all outstanding amounts the first day of the subsequent month if the utility account remains unpaid by the due date. Balances over $250.00 are transferred to the associated tax roll account and are subject to a $40.00 administrative fee. Please be advised that failure to remit payment for your monthly utility account balance may result in service disconnection at the discretion of the Village of Marwayne.

Bulk Water

The Village of Marwayne has a bulk water station available for public use. Residential, commercial and industrial customers are welcome to take advantage of this service. There are two options for your convenience:

1. Open an account

If you choose to open an account, a refundable $250.00 deposit must first be paid to the Village of Marwayne. Once received, you will be issued a unique seven (7) digit pin to access the bulk water station at your leisure.

All bulk water account holders must complete a Bulk Water Account Holder Consent Form prior to access being granted. Invoices are generated monthly and must be paid within thirty (30) days. Failure to pay your monthly invoice will result in the disconnection of your service, your deposit being forfeited and/or your account balance being transferred to collections or the associated tax roll account.

COST: $40.00 monthly flat fee + $6.90 per cubic meter of bulk water

2. One time use

If you only need water for a specific purpose, or for a set number of days, we can set you up with a unique seven (7) digit pin that will be valid for a limited time. Users who would like to get bulk water on an as needed basis must complete a Bulk Water One Time Use Consent Form prior to access being granted. One time users will need to remit payment to the Village of Marwayne immediately after filling up, or at the conclusion of their agreement, whichever comes soonest. Failure to remit payment will result in penalties, transfer to collections and/or the associated tax roll account.

COST: $6.90 per cubic meter of bulk water

If bulk water access is required after hours, or on the weekend, an additional surcharge of $25.00 will apply.

Seasonal Offerings

Snow Removal

Snow removal is provided on an annual and priority basis as per the Village of Marwayne's Snow Removal and Sanding Policy. The Village of Marwayne also provides driveway snow removal to our residents on request basis.

Seniors                                      $100.00 plus GST per year

Residential & Businesses         $200.00 plus GST per year

If it takes our Public Works employees more than 20 minutes to clear the driveway, additional charges will apply in accordance with the Village of Marwayne's Fees and Charges Bylaw. Further, in order to have your driveway cleared, you must fill out this liability waiver and provide your payment. Please note, we do not provide pro-rated fees - regardless of when you sign up for the service. Unfortunately, without a completed liability waiver and payment, we are unable to clear the snow from your property.

Street Sweeping

Street sweeping is provided on an annual basis at the end of May or begining of June, weather dependent. Notification is provided to the community in advance to ensure vehicles are moved off the street and windows are closed. Street sweeping only takes place within the Village of Marwayne boundary and does not extend to Highway 897.

Weed Spraying

Weed spraying is provided twice annually. Once in May and again in September. The Village of Marwayne does not complete this service in house, it is contracted to a third party and is scheduled based on their availability.

Grass Mowing

The Village of Marwayne cuts grass on all municipally owned lands throughout the spring and summer months. Residential mowing services are not provided. It is the responsibility of property owners to ensure their boulevards are mowed and well maintained.

Pool Fills

The volunteer Fire Department provides non-potable water hauling services for residential pools in the summer months. The cost is $50.00 per 1000 gallons in addition to a donation to the Fire Department. The total amount of the service depends on how many loads are required and the distance travelled by the tanker truck. For more information, or to schedule your pool fill, please contact Fire Chief Ron Miskie at (780) 847-0002.
