Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) Recipient

The Village of Marwayne has secured additional funding for the Walking Trails and Splash Park through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF). The Village of Marwayne has received $375,000 in federal funding to go towards these projects as a means of expanding our community’s recreational amenities for residents and visitors alike.

The Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) is a two-year, $500 million national infrastructure program to help communities like the Village of Marwayne rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund assists non-profit organizations, municipalities, community groups, and Indigenous communities across Canada to build and improve community infrastructure projects. PrairiesCan administers the CCRF in Alberta.

The Splash Park will be constructed in Westview Park in the spring/summer of 2022, located in between the soccer fields and the playground. The design will be suitable for all ages and abilities, with multiple pieces of equipment for everyone to enjoy. As for the walking trails, these will extend upon our current trajectory to allow for better pedestrian traffic within our boundaries and ease of access to our various Village amenities.

Our goal is that the construction of the Splash Park and Walking Trails will enhance our residents’ quality of life, draw in visitors and help local businesses during the peak season by encouraging more people to shop in their stores, dine in their restaurants and further enjoy their experience in the small rural Village of Marwayne.
